Firstly, having just purchased Anger of Angels I am most impressed. Having
the Cherubim, Seraphim, Gregori, et al at my disposal is most remarkable, not to
mention the fun of extra feats to fiddle about with... Makes me glad I decided
to try my hand at being a half celestial in a campaign about to start. Ah, but
that brings me to my point. The true purpose of this message is a spot of
confusion that arose within me when I looked over the half celestial template
presented in AoA: it doesn't match the template presented in my monsters manual
(which is admitedly 3.0 rather than 3.5, and if that is where my confusion lies
then by all means correct me).
As the congruencies are of little interest to me, I'll just outline the
differences, naturally based on the full template in the Monster Manual and the
full four levels of the template in Anger of Angels:
| Monster Manual | Anger of Angels |
| Low-light Vision | Darkvision (range unspecified) |
| Energy Immunity (acid, cold, electricity) | Energy Resistance (acid, cold, electricity) 10 |
| Light (at will) | Daylight (number of uses unspecified, listed in left column at second level) |
| Smite Evil (number of uses unspecified, listed in left column at third level) | |
| DR 5/magic | |
| SR=HD+10 (maximum 35) |
Further, there are a number of incongruities between the spell like abilities
gained:
Remove Disease is listed as requiring 7 HD in MM, but as first level in AoA
At 15 HD MM awards Symbol while AoA awards Mass Charm
I'm simply curious as to the rational behind the changes so I can discuss
them with my DM knowledgeably and we can decide which would be the better way to
go. Well, that plus my confusion over Darkvision, Daylight, and Smite Evil in
your template, which admittedly may well be annotated in a place I failed to
look, and if so, my apologies. Many thanks in advance for your help.
